BARRED SORUBIM (TIGER SHOVELNOSE CATFISH)

The barred sorubim is a beautifully marked predatory catfish which we have recently stocked into the lake. Also known as the tiger shovelnose catfish its behaviour and diet is similar to the amazon redtail and its fight is every bit as strong, tearing off on searing runs.

Tactics to catch these pretty fish are the same for the Amazon redtail: small pieces of ledgered deadbait off the hyacinths in the margins will tempt a few takes.
