The silver or java barb is a common fish across Thailand and we’re lucky to have a good breeding stock of these fish on our lake that provide food and livebaits for our numerous predators. They are a pretty fish that has a compressed body with a pronounced arched back and the scales give off a shiny silvery flash (larger specimens can also exhibit some golden colouration).
They are easily caught anywhere in the lake and you will see our guides fishing for them in the margins to keep the livebait nets full. They are great sport for kids on our light tackle rods and can be caught in all manner of ways: light touch ledgering, waggler or floating surface baits.
